TEMPTATIONS:BLOG ENTRY 27

TEMPTATIONS by Melondy Roberson

You tried to distract me with the lust of the flesh,
Wrapped in deceptions like a spider of Satan’s mesh,
With sweet nothings that dripped like berries from his alluring lips,
You tried to turn the wheel in hopes of death from lost grips,
Stealing my mind like a duck on a platter,
Stirring up chaos like burning matter,
Drawn by illusions and mirages of this infinite remedy,
But the savior knew the plans he had for me even at Calvary,
Desiring to delight my physical needs,
Beyond the wages of sin my faith begin to intercede,
As I saw God’s hand reaching for my life,
Every impurity cutback by this piercing knife,

You tried to kill me with the lust of the eye,
Tall, dark, handsome, nice suit, and a bow-tie,
Arms full of muscles, but heart full of game,
Hand full of jokers, you desired to drive me insane,
Tried to take my eyes off the target and miss the red dot,
Like a speeding bullet aiming for me to be shot,

You tried to destroy my heart with the pride of life,
Producing selfish ostentation and self-seeking cockiness to entice,
Senseless rewards for me you desired for me to seek,
For my selfish motives to become a mouse without expression of a squeak,

But Lord I couldn’t stop thinking of you,
So I walked towards what I knew was true.
I fought past my unsympathetic feelings to lean on your word.
It was then that I heard your voice like the sweet song of a Nightingale bird.
It is easily to get distracted so I have to continue to look towards the hills.
Lord, your love alone for me simply gives me chills.

Let's talk about it: As Christians, we sometimes struggle with temptations. God may send test to make you stronger for the purpose of uplifting, but temptations specifically are designed by Satan to kill, steal, and destroy you.

We may even struggle internally do the right thing even if we never commit the act. We question God's timing and compare ourselves to other individuals whose walk has nothing to do with ours. My dad always use to say never be so prideful or holy enough to think that you can't be tempted. Satan knows exactly what you like as well as your weaknesses and he dress it up pretty well. But the truth always comes to the light in due season if we continue to do the right thing and be open enough to hear the truth. I have found that God will show you the truth instantly if you want to see it even though the truth may not always be pretty. You have to be careful what situations you place yourself in if it can be avoided. Remember that you are not beyond temptation. The struggle can be real. Many times if we are honest then we already know!  You knew when you picked up that phone at 1:06a.m, but you second guessed yourself. No, trust your FIRST mind. Girl, but it's haaaaarrrrd! ( in my whiny voice). Annnnnd! No one said it wouldn't be, but there comes a point in time when you have got to get real with yourself.

And even when you are face to face with that temptation, God always provides a way of escape. Whether it is as small, as the phone ringing in the moment of interruption. We decide to take the path that we take. Temptation looks a lot like escape. Temptation is said to be escape's evil twin. But temptation always looks much bigger than escape. So we hold on when we should really be letting go. Temptation may even look enticing and feel good temporally until we come face to face to the reality that its goal is to kill, steal, and destroy us. Many people walk around with the fears and anxieties. You don't have to! We all sometimes make mistakes and fall down. We can get back up and ask for forgiveness. Ask God for strength and peace of mind. I can honestly say that I am not perfect, but I fighting this fight too. It use to get on my nerves when people use to say you are just a goodie two shoes. You are nearly perfect. No crazy, I aint Jesus and far from perfect. And you can learn a lot from just watching other people as examples of what to do and not to do. Then, some things you just have to go through for yourself. In understanding that no one is perfect, you begin to learn compassion without bending your values.
So when you mess up...

DON'T STAY DOWN... hold your ground. And even on those days that the inner struggle is REAL, faint not and remember that the battle is not even yours. It belongs to the Lord and the fight is fixed. You win in the end if you choose not to give in.

He Cares For You (Special Dedication)

“Everything happens for a reason. Every failure, every failed relationship, every heart break, temporary discomfort, and every enigmatic circumstance has brought us back to one place. This place lies in the comforting arms of a savior who promised never to leave us or forsake us.” ~M. Roberson

He has seen every perpetual tear of your unfathomable fear,
And as you draw nigh to him for divine perception,
He will open your eyes to make everything so clear.

He has heard every single claim and cares especially for you,
And when the timing draws near for his plan to unfold,
He will call you to understand that is purpose is true.

He has felt every apprehension and unexplainable pain,
In the midst of a past reality that still makes no sense,
He will touch any broken wound beyond every crimson stain.

He has tasted the bitterness of every memory that leaves a frown,
Like a spoon full of sugar open your mouth,
Let the medicine of faith push your unbelief down.

He is healing and restoring even as we speak,
He is building your strength in him so continue to seek.

I am praying for you that you are able to face each fear,
And that God equips you and dries every tear.

I pray that you don’t give up the fight,
And that your daylights will outweigh your nights.

I pray for victory and that your mistakes will help you grow,
To wait on his promise even though the return seems slow.

I pray that you find a heart to forgive.
And the word of God teaches you what it means to live.

I pray you learn to walk in patience and not rush God’s plan,
And build your house on rock beyond the sinking sand.

I pray that you do it God’s way even if it seems in vain,
And everyone around says you’re absolutely positively insane,

I pray you always remember where to look when times get tough,
And return to the true war room when you feel like you had enough.

Psalm 34:8 (KJV) O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

HE SAYS REST IN ME (audio)

I am not a singer, but the message is clear! He says rest in me child. Slow down, stop stressing, don't be anxious over anything, and simply rest in me. We spend too much time worrying causing us to be sick in health mentally and physically. More and More people are taking anxiety pills, popping pills, and riding sideways on two wheels. But when you know God and you are resting in his love then it is your mind that he keeps if you would just ask him. He is saying come child and rest in me.

I want to be a Proverbs 31 woman! (BLOG Entry 24)

I want to be a Proverbs 31 woman!

I want to be a Proverbs 31 woman!
A woman who follows God’s word,

For his voice she has constantly heard,
And her life is a reflection of the ear of that direction,
Lacking the desperation of any selfish ambitions,
So each day she walks in love….
She fast and she prays.
I want to be a Proverbs 31 woman!
She loves God with a sincere heart so divine,
That it touches and captures those lost and blind,
Not because she has followed her own lust,
But in the instructions of God’s plan will she trust.
So each day she walks in love…
She worships and she praises.
I want to be a Proverbs 31 woman!
Whether young or old,
She cherishes life as it is gold,
Because she knows that her help comes from above,
So each day she walks in love…
She encourages and she lifts up.
I want to be a Proverbs 31 woman!
Whether married or single,
She trusts her current season of her life and embraces every wrinkle,
For she knows of a man who has a grander plan,
He is the greatest creator of the age of man,
So each day she walks in love…
She stands beyond tears and refuses to be bitter and depressed.
I want to be a Proverbs 31 woman!
She works hard every day wherever she maybe,
Planting seeds that will one day grow into a beautiful tree,
For she knows whether at home, work, or wherever she may flee,
That her life is a ministry for the entire world to see,
So each day she walks in love...
She knows where her purpose lies and she walks in character.
I want to be a Proverbs 31 woman!
She walks in wisdom for she knows the power of the tongue,
Her truth spits like rivers of a hope unsung,
For her goal is to uplift,
As she allows this to become the walk of her gift,
So each day she walks in love…
She knows that words are very powerful.
I want to be a Proverbs 31 woman!
So that all can see that Christ lives in me!

NOT WITHOUT A FIGHT: BLOG ENTRY 23

Prayer is what will see you through on this journey. It is a source of communication between God and you that will restore strength of peace in the midst of ANY type of situation.

“This fight that we fight is not a physical fight, but yet a spiritual one.” I have heard this phrase several times as we have entered 2016 and as our church studies the Book of James. But even more so I have come to understand the dynamic power of prayer as my dad would always quote, “Much prayer, much power…little prayer, little power…no prayer, no power.”

Let us just be real. We face daily battles on the job, with our families, friends, enemies, frenemies, and even in the least expected places situations still come up.  We run into health issues and financial woes. We face rejection that scars us and leaves a trial of constant disappointments and hopelessness. Sometimes, we just go through it! But even in our frustrations, God provides a word of strength unto his people.

James 5:16 (NIV) Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

The bible has many scriptures relating to prayer, but I have come to understand just how powerful and effective it is.

I use to think well if everything is going to happen the way God wants it to happen anyway then why pray. Then, I begin to grow more in the word of God and develop a different way of thinking. The benefit of knowing God and appreciating him for simply who he is will equip us in making our lives accountable and therefore pleasing to his sight. We should desire to want to grow for HIS timing shall lead us to our purpose. Notice, I said HIS timing.

Often times we worship God and honor him secretly thinking that if I do what God wants me to do then he will follow the plans that I want him to follow. He will do what I want him to do because I did A-Z. OOOOOO Look at me!
I have followed all the rules and now God where is my prize.
Go sit down please!!
This is very dangerous thinking!

We should not worship God for what he can do, but get to that place where you can begin to worship him for who he is. When you get to this place, you will begin to see yolks broken and lives changed for the better because you have taken yourself out of it and have acknowledged that it is all about him.

So I challenge you today to seek him. Yet know this, it will not be without a fight! But the good news is that the battle is already won. Your finish will be victorious. Today, fight for your mind, fight for your peace, and fight for your joy.

Lord, thank you for another day. You didn’t promise the fight would be easy, but you did promise that I would have victory in you. So today Lord, I speak peace and joy over my mind and my life. Today, I speak victory over my family and friends. Today, I declare your power in me to stand victoriously upon your word. I declare that today, victory is mine.  I thank you in advance for what you are doing and shall do not only in my life, but the lives of your people.
 In Jesus Name I pray
AMEN
