Holding Out for God's Treasure: BLOG ENTRY 16

Holding Out for God’s Treasure

(google images)

I really begin to think back to my childhood. My mom never let me get the pink bubble tape while we were inside the store because she said it was too much gum and I didn’t need it.

I remember asking to go sit in the back of the church with my older cousin. When growing up, all the teenagers sat in the back. My mom let me go. While sitting with my older cousin Honey, she gave me her empty bubble tape container. Of course, it had no gum left in it, but I remember just being happy playing with the empty container.

Soon after, I remember going back to sit with my mom because I was so happy and wanted to show her my new found treasure. I remember two smaller girls reaching for it who were sitting on the same bench as my mom and me.

Of course, I fell asleep during the sermon on my mother’s lap. When I got up during benediction, the first thing I asked for was my bubble tape container. Oh BUT No! My mom had given it away to those two little girls who were sitting there from out of town and now they were gone.

I remember every time I saw those two little girls after that, I remembered the incident. You see I still remember today. Lol

Anyway, I begin to think of the children in my classroom and the silly things they treasure and hold on to.

I often wonder why my children hold on to a half broken pencil with no eraser. Even though I often tell them, you don’t have to use that. Ask for another and I will freely give it to you. I have plenty.

I often wonder why some children would even waste their time getting upset if someone even takes their pencil. Instead simply, raise your hand and ask for assistance.

How many times as teacher have I stated, “Whatever you need, I got you.”

Often times as the year goes on then my students catch on. They begin to quote the things I have said when a situation comes up and handle it accordingly. They begin to mature in the things that I have taught and develop those critical thinking skills.

I wonder if this is what God is often thinking.

·        Why do they hold on to empty bubble tape containers?

·        Why do they hold on to empty promises?

·        Don’t they understand that I have more for them?

·        Why can’t they understand that everything they need then they can find in me?

My promises are never empty.

My teacher treasure box/supply box is full, but I don’t take it out all at once.

If my seven and eight year old students can begin to understand that hey, “I got this”. Then we can trust God that he has our life in his hands. He stands at the beginning and ending of time. He stood at the beginning of time and saw it all the way to the end.  We as Christians can begin to repeat his word and live it.

Philippians 4:6-“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.”

I can trust that when I put it in his hands. It will be alright.

PRAYER:

Lord, thank you for everything you have done. Guide my life and my heart to live in your fullness and trust your holy word. Give me a mind full of peace. Give me a mind not to hold on to empty lies and promises that don’t come from you. But allow me to know that all I need is in you.

You got this!

In Jesus Name I pray.

AMEN

BLOG ENTRY 15: Are you the real thing or just another counterfeit?

Are you the real thing or just another counterfeit?

15 Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.

16 By their fruit you will recognize them.

17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.

19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into fire.

20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

~Matthew 7: 15-20 (NIV)

22 But the fruit of the Spirt is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness

23 gentleness and self-control

~Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)

My dad would often tell me as young woman, “Never settle for a counterfeit. The devil sends many counterfeits, but only God can send the real thing. So you wait on the real thing.”

Throughout the years, I have had my share of counterfeits. Many were easy to recognize at face value, but others were deeply rooted within the lessons of betrayal, manipulation, and jealously.

Within these lessons, I have learned to lean on God through prayer and spiritual discernment in recognizing that everyone who says they are for you may not necessarily have your best interest at heart.

Nevertheless, I have chosen to take these lessons not as defeat or retaliation, but as a chance to show the love of God even more in encouraging people in each season of my life.

I have chosen to take these lessons to learn, forgive, and press forward in the peace of my savior.

In this day and age, there is an artificial brand for everything. There are various imitations of popular food brands. There are knock offs of hand bags, jewelry, clothes, and shoes. There are even great pretenders, wannabes, duplicators, and all sorts of imitators.

Foot Note: Sometimes, it just pays to buy the original even if it cost a little more.  Sometimes the cheaper things will end up costing more in the long run. So stop being cheap and make the investment.

I decided a long time ago that I wanted the thing marked with the original seal of authenticity on the inside. I want the thing that just doesn’t look well from the outside, but bears no strength on the inside. I want the thing marked by the seal of truth and there is only person who holds that key and his name is Jesus Christ. I not only want THAT thing, but I want to BE that thing.

My uncle once said, “If you can’t love Jesus, then you can’t love me.”

In all my years of selfishness, I have finally come to understand what this truly means. The original is the best. There may be other good things, but will you wait on the best? And I promise you this one thing, you will know them by the fruit that they bear.

Questions to Ponder

·        Is the cost too much?

·        Is the season of waiting just too much?

·        Will you settle for rotten fruit or your season of harvest?

·        Are the fruit too high up in the tree that you would pick up those immature fruits on the ground?

·        Are you trying to steal fruit out of other’s people’s baskets?

He is my real thing and the protector of my heart. I gave him the key so you can’t get it from me.

So my final question to you is…Are you just another counterfeit or is this real thing?

This is Where I find you: BLOG ENTRY 14

This is where I find you...
THERE IS NOTHING TOO HARD FOR MY GOD :)

Psalm 121:1-2 NIV
1) I lift my eyes to the hills---where does my help come from?
2) My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

The Bucket of Tears Collaboration

Bucket of Tears

If a bucket full of tears mopped our floors of tomorrow,
Could we steal happiness from today,
So our future selves could borrow?

Will those actions torment us like the running of the bulls?
Running for temporary satisfaction,
The unmaking our thoughts reveal a gouging transaction,

If the horns of our hearts somehow bring us to be,
Would the reflection of our future be clear enough to see?
A bucket of tears could mop the floor of our tomorrows,
Will you still spend it with me?

Bucket of Tears Part 2

If a bucket of tears mopped the floor of our tomorrow,
Then, we could use every hope for today to transform those sorrows,
Yet let’s choose not to borrow from its sunshine,
For our faith looks back at us from the frontline.

Tormenting me like running bulls,
I have been redeemed from the eternal pull,
The unmasking of my faith,
In his arms I have found mercy and grace.

If the horns of our hearts do bring us to be,
Then, Christ is where thy hearts should bring us to see,
If a bucket full of tears could mop the floor of our tomorrows,
Then in God will I spend it with it knowing that he can bind together any horror.

BLOG ENTRY TWELVE: Staying Within God's Speed Limit-Learning to Trust Him

A message for you...
What do you do when God has shown you something, but yet what you have heard in the spirit doesn't line up with your current situation?

  • You trust God anyhow, trust that his timing is perfect.
  • Trust him that the desire that he has placed inside of you shall come to pass.
  • Trust that it will bring him glory in his due season.
So just hold out and simply trust him.

Often we try and rush God and his timing. His timing is perfect for ALL of his children. He wants the best for you and he loves you unconditionally.

Do we really trust God or do we do our own thing and then expect/pray that God bless our hasty decisions?
  • Allow God to order your steps daily.

Speed Limit Part One
A past put to rest and a future not yet seen,
I've chosen to stay within God's speed limit,
Trying to fulfill my dreams,

Feeling rushed in the fast lane,
Forgetting to fill up,
I am running out of gas,
Lord, want you please fill my cup,

Hit some road bumps,
Had to overcome some hills and humps,
But God saved me when I almost crashed,
He spared my life and ended what could have been my last,

So I am staying within God's speed limit,
So if you don't like it then go around,
As long as I know where I'm headed,
HEAVEN BOUND

Speed Limit Part Two

My heart isn't reassured,
Lord I think I'm running late,
Let me go pass this speed limit,
For goodness sake

God says...
Keep going the pace that I have directed,
I have placed the signs,
That are around for instruction to protect you

What's the point I ponder...

God allows me to look in my rear view mirror,
I see where he has brought me from,
All for his purpose,
Located in the holes of his palm

Thank you Lord,
A tear falls as I tell God,
I want give up

I didn't even realize how far I had come,
Changing lives,
For I know the battle has already been won,

So my lesson to you,
When it feels like God's way isn't working,
Keep going,
He will bring you through

BLOG ENTRY TEN: Don't Worry

Lesson 7: DON’T WORRY (Matthew 6:25-34)

Don’t try and rush the existence of time

Finding yourself so entwined in its mystery

That you find yourself left far behind

Don’t try and rush the unknowns of life

Building up unnecessary worry and strife

Don’t try to play yourself

Wanting things that life has not prepared you for

But wait patiently

And God will open that door
