BLOG ENTRY EIGHT: The Reality/The Illusion

Lesson 5: It is time to wake up. As I look around the world, the things that are happening daily saddening my heart, but yet I still I have and unexplainable hope for a better tomorrow. The reality is that it is time to wake up. We should always strive to be better than we were the day before.

“For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave him thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts darkened.” Romans 1:20

THE REALITY

The reality is that the lust of the world and the temporary feelings of pleasure have trapped us into the deceitful mind frame that has caused us to neglect the realities of real life situations

That our black communities are being plagued by the reality of aids, selfishness, and greed

The reality that instead of being restrained by the prejudices of society…

We continue to trap ourselves in the webs of repeated history of poverty and the streets

The reality is that we have got to teach our children who they are and where they come from

But where we come from does not define the product of who we are

The reality that America isn’t getting any better so we must not hide and run from our troubles

The reality that we have got to face the fear of failure

The reality that our babies are having babies

The reality that our black men are getting fewer and fewer

The reality that our children are being raised in front of the television instead of by their parents

The reality that we are crying out, crying out, crying out for help but no one is listening

The reality that mental deprivation has an effect on a child that has to watch his father beat his mother

The reality of the tears continuously being shed over the same type of situations because the next person thought it couldn’t happen to them

The reality that blood has been shed over innocent lives and drugs are still killing

The reality that a young woman would do anything, even sale her child for drugs

Searching for an unreachable high through the insanities of the world

We will never reach that destination

The reality is…

If you want purpose…

If you want to go anywhere in life…

You have got to wake up and take action…

Starting with the person starting you back in the mirror

The Illusion

I begin to evaluate the things in my life

The acquisition of things, relationships, and endless strife

Seeing a future stretched out in a path of wait

Getting lonely in the midst of fate

The illusions of Satan’s fulfillment of sexual desires

Being young and still yet tired

Satan plays tricks with the minds of the young

But it never measures up and it only gets you hung

Hung up on lies that lead to hate

Hung up on greed that you didn’t even anticipate

Hung up in situations

Leaving your heart filled with pain

Blocking out the world

In the midst of your shame

Blaming it on others and where you come from

Blaming on society and the glamour of smoking crack and sipping rum

Trying to erase your problems

But they still remain

Emotions so bottled up

You wouldn’t know love if it called your name

Baby, Jesus is the only way to find peace

Among the insecurities of grief

Tried him for myself

And now I have relief
