BLOG ENTRY ONE: The Introduction

Introduction:

I published my first book back in 2008 entitled, Just Simply Me and my second book back in 2009 entitled, A Journey Traveled. It is now 2015. I have found that in the midst of teaching and higher learning, I haven’t written as much. So I decided to start a BLOG featuring some of my favorite past poems and new ones. This may be in the form of brief videos or written work. I don’t write just for myself, but that my writing may be a blessing unto others and that you may understand that there is power in your words.

 

WORDS

“I understand the power of words…The identity of a single word can incorporate a spirit of life or death that lies in the product of its atmosphere.

The words of a simple song can build emotions within the interior of your heart.

They can break bridges and cause relationships to fall apart.

Choose your words carefully for they shape the character of the young.

The power of eternity lies in your tongue.”

 

WHY I WRITE

I write for purpose

I write for the cause

This aint no ballgame

Or no trip to Oz

The power of words

Declares the truth

That incorporates

A voice that can

Raise the roof

So much is going on

And the world is getting crazy

Sometimes the noise

Makes life a little hazy

 

So I write

And let out it all

My hopes, dreams, and constant flaws

How I made it and overcome

That my story or testimony may encourage someone

I write to embrace the imagination

In scenarios of life

Circumstances of glory and strife

I write not for your approval

Or for the fame

Not for the money or to embarrass

Anyone in shame

 

Writing is in my heart

God has given me a part
